In Casa Facebook, the author weaves together fascinating real-life stories of the founders of Facebook, the Silicon Valley kingpins, and a mystical house that became headquarters to the social networking startup that changed the world. This compelling narrative provides readers with an insightful view into the lives and community that launched Facebook and the dynamics that can transform wild dreams into reality. “Casa Facebook is a captivating story of Judy Fusco’s experience with American values seen in the context of her Asian heritage. One can’t read this book without feeling there is a deeper meaning to the extraordinary home where an American institution took shape.” Anita Wonder
“In recent years I’ve had the opportunity of closely watching a transformational idea take shape around my dining room table, as a team of young entrepreneurs took a dream and unveiled it to the world. Whether pundits agree about the lasting value of social networking, the world has definitely taken notice and joined the revolution. And, this revolution has certainly made a positive difference in the lives of millions—800 million members to be exact—and in the events of nations. In the case of the young entrepreneurs in my dining room, it seems as if destiny brought us together for a brief season and a great purpose. Perhaps, too, the mystique surrounding the house played a significant role in launching the global invasion of social networking and in propelling the Facebook founders to world renown. By taking a look through a window of time—a window I and many others have called Casa Facebook—we can listen and learn from the carriers of this grand idea, and in their lives we can find inspiration that can shape our own destinies.” Judy Fusco
Judy Fusco grew up in a wealthy, upper-class home in South Thailand. Their affluence enabled Judy’s parents to support their own 10 children and also care for 10 other children that they adopted during a period in the nation’s history when 95 percent of the wealth was held by five percent of the Thai population. At a young age, Judy and her brother Peter, began to take compassionate action for the underprivileged. She organized a charity to build the school cafeteria and library to help the very poor students that attended her public school. Later, Peter, as the first Director of Economic Development for Thailand, built a road the length of the nation, know as Friendship Road. Confounding skeptics throughout the nation, this project was completed on time and without its director, Peter, accepting one bribe. The road ultimately greatly increased the standard of living for many of the nation’s poor by helping them get their goods to market. Judy eventually traveled to the U.S. with her brother Peter, attended university where she received her Masters in Health Administration, married, and raised her daughter, Melissa. Throughout much of her life in America and Silicon Valley, Judy has found herself connected to some renowned tech entrepreneurs and has also pursued her hobby—real estate investing. In the course of this endeavor, she has been able to help entrepreneurs starting up new companies and launching dreams. In recent years, Judy’s hobby has allowed her to meet, observe and play a supporting role in the social networking drama acted out by Mark Zuckerberg and other Facebook founders. She sometimes still wonders about the significance of the role the prophetic and mystical Casa Facebook blessing played in the success of this internet dorm experiment—now global phenomenon—called Facebook. Nowadays, from her Silicon Valley vantage point, Judy enjoys watching each subsequent act of Facebook play out. * A portion of the proceeds from this book will go toward helping better the lives of orphans in Thailand. * All 8 videos will be available in the Apple ibook version of Casa Facebook.
